Lots of Preparations

The past month has certainly flown by in a flurry.  So fast that I have neglected posting our weekly activities.  Lots of things have happened since our last post but I'll try to keep this entry as short as possible.

Since officially resigning as a second grade teacher at my elementary school Derek and I have been working furiously cleaning out and packing up my room.  We have spent several Saturdays going through lots of school stuff, packing, and hauling boxes home.  It has been quite a long process and has brought on some anxiety and nervousness about leaving.  I am so excited about being able to stay home with the kids, but also sad to leave a job I love and my dear friends at RES.

Since our last post Derek went underwent LASIK eye correction surgery.  He had his vision corrected in both eyes.  So now he doesn't have to wear contacts or glasses, which he is very excited about!  It's something that he had been thinking about doing for a long time and finally decided to get it done before the baby comes.  Overall it was a pretty painless procedure and was completed in about an hour.
Addy wasn't so sure about Derek's "cool" LASIK goggles!

Addy enjoyed making a monkey for her baby brother!

Adalyn continues to develop her speaking and communication skills.  She has started to understand jokes and has made us laugh quite a few times with jokes of her own.  The other day when her sitter, Kalee was ordering her a meal at Culver's, Addy informed the cashier that she didn't want a hamburger but wanted a cheeseburger with ketchup and pickles.  She is certainly a girl who knows exactly what she wants.  She also knows the majority of her letters and is working on her numbers.  She has started to sing more and more songs and has become much more vocal and imaginative when playing by herself.  It's a lot of fun to sit back and listen to her making her figurines talk and interact with each other.  Addy has also become much more accepting of her soon to be born baby brother.  She now acknowledges that he is coming and that she plans to play with him and give him hugs and kisses.

Apparently Baby Boy Freihaut has been growing like a weed.  A week ago I had an ultrasound at 36 weeks to check for size.  The pictures and measurements confirmed our suspicions--he is a big guy!  He was measured in at weighing 8 lbs. 9 oz.  My doctor noted that he has long legs, a large abdomen and a big head.  Hmmmm.....his measurements sound a lot like another little girl's that I know!  Since he is measuring so big and I am dilated to 4 centimeters I am scheduled to be induced this coming Thursday.  I will be right at 38 weeks.  We are all very excited to meet our new "not so little" guy.

So needless to say we have a very busy week coming up. Lots of things are happening all at once. Our last day of school is scheduled for Friday. I am planning to go to school on Monday and Tuesday. I have quite a few loose ends I need to tie up and I need to say goodbye to my second graders. Wednesday is Second Grade Park Day and the temperature is forecasted to reach 90 degrees, so my doctor said that I was a "no go" for Wednesday which is probably for the best. This week is definitely going to be a very emotionally taxing week with saying goodbye to saying goodbye to RES, last minute preparations for the baby, and welcoming our little guy to the world. What a crazy week! We will certainly keep you posted about the arrival of our little guy so stay tuned!
My wonderful second grade team posing for a picture earlier this year.  I waited until my last day was over to post this because I didn't want to hear them gripe about me putting it on here:)  I will miss them dearly!
My class threw me a surprise baby shower.  A student's grandmother made this cake for me.  Then whole party was great!
Derek working in my classroom, wondering what on earth I'm going to have him do next.

Sprinkler Fun!
